This ancient writing practice made me $60,000
... this will blow your mind
There’s an ancient journaling practice that I’ve been using to make a lot of money in my business.
I recently hit my first $10k month with this YouTube channel exclusively.
Today, I’m breaking down what it is, why it works and how you can apply it to not only make money online…
But also overcome procrastination and heal the inner demons that have been holding you back for years.
What is it?
This technique is life-changing.
Without it, I would still be broke, depressed and by this point, probably an alcoholic.
It’s a technique I’ve been using for a long time called Shadow Journaling.
Shadow journaling has its roots in ancient Greece with the Stoics.
It’s a form of transformational inner work that involves writing in a very deep and focused way that creates shifts on the internal level.
When you do shadow journaling properly you can feel your negative beliefs shift. You can feel things happen on an internal level as your pen moves.
I gave a new client a shadow journaling assignment and he messaged me telling me about the healing crying session he had whilst doing it saying he feels so much lighter.
This is what shadow journaling can do.
It can clear a lifetime's worth of emotional blockages.
Why does it work and how does it make you money?
Think of your mind as a gold mine that nobody has dug into yet.
That gold consists of your original ideas, unique perspectives and monetizable passions and skills you could develop.
It’s all of your valuable potential sitting under the surface, dormant.
So far, you’ve been standing at the top of the mine with a hand shovel trying to find the gold.
But all you’ve been getting is dirt.
That’s because you need something stronger, like an industrial-sized drill, to go deep enough.
And when you do, shadow journaling will earn your financial independence by helping you:
Solve your own problems in life which gives you the authority to help others solve the same problem while charging money for it.
Uncover your life’s mission that nobody else can tell you — allowing you to become a well-paid thought leader.
Discover your values, worldview, and authentic perspectives that form the basis of a highly monetizable and valuable personal brand.
Become a much better writer allowing you to communicate your ideas in a way that gets attention whilst building an audience of people who will pay you.
Without shadow journaling, you will constantly compare yourself to other more authentic and successful creators…
All because you haven’t tapped into your potential yet.
So assuming you’re sold, let’s dive into a step-by-step exercise you can use right now.
How to do it?
This exercise I’m going to share with you is deep.
It’s technically advanced, but I want you to experience the power of this practice.
If you can follow along with me, it will blow your mind.
With shadow journaling, it helps to have a specific leading issue or problem you’re facing.
For this exercise, let’s assume you procrastinate on creating content due to fear.
That’s what we’re going to work on just as a demonstration.
Firstly, the basis of shadow journaling involves deep presence and focus.
This means no distractions. Music can be helpful if it’s ambient and calm.
Tune out of the noise of the world. Drop into yourself.
Spend 5 minutes in total and complete silence before you write anything.
Once you’re present, we can begin.
Now, write down the fear.
In your journal, write down the fear that you want to address. Be as specific as possible. For example, you might say "I’m afraid of creating content online."
Once you’ve written that down, it’s time to personify the fear.
Imagine your fear as a character or entity.
Give it a name, a shape, and describe its appearance.
Write down everything about this character.
For example, you might say "My fear of creating content looks like a dark, looming shadow named Doubt."
Now that we have a character, it’s time to chat with it.
Write a dialogue between you and the personified fear.
Start by asking why it exists and what it wants to protect you from.
For example, "Doubt, why are you here?"
To which Doubt might reply … "I’m here to protect you from embarrassment and judgment."
Now this next part is essential.
97% of people will never take this next step and will exist in self-criticism and hatred their entire lives.
It’s time to acknowledge and thank the fear.
Recognize the role your fear has played in trying to protect you.
Write a thank you note to it.
For example, "Thank you, Doubt, for trying to keep me safe. I understand your intention."
Now that we’ve become aware of what Doubt is trying to do, we’ll see if we can transform it.
You can straight up ask it for transformation.
Ask your fear what it needs to transform into a supportive ally.
You might say, "Doubt, what do you need to become Confidence?"
Now listen and write down its answer.
Imagine the fear responding with what it needs. Write this down.
For example, it might say "I need you to practice more consistently."
And now, it’s time to visualize the transformation.
Close your eyes and visualize your fear transforming into a positive ally.
See Doubt changing into Confidence, with a new appearance.
In your journal, draw or describe this new character.
What does Confidence look like? How does it make you feel?
With this in mind, you now make a plan for bringing this into your life with a single practical step.
Write down one action you can take with the support of your new ally, including a date to make it tangible.
For example, you might say "With Confidence by my side, I will create a piece of content and post it on social media on Wednesday."
This is shadow journaling.
It blends together the esoteric and the practical in a way that can change your life if you practice it consistently.
But there’s a problem…
Maybe your self-doubt isn’t just afraid of negative experiences … but it’s also afraid of positive ones, too. This can be extremely tricky to deal with.
Becoming aware of what fears lurk in your subconscious is the first step.
I created a video giving you these 5 hidden fears that sabotage you and make you procrastinate. Click here to watch it.
Until next time,
